The Bling Ring: The planning

In today’s media saturated world, young kids cannot help but desire the lives of those whose face appear on the cover of gossip magazines and can afford $10,000 Birkin bags. The aspirational motivations to be part of the lifestyle of celebrities and socialites is more powerful than the desire to fight for one’s dreams. Let’s face it, it’s easier to pose on a red carpet than work 8 to 5. All these were causes for The Bling Ring crew to rob the houses of paparazzi darlings such as Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.

Oh, I’m not only talking about Sophia Coppola’s latest film, titled with the same name. This was real. The infamous youngster, Alexis Neyers, was one of the members of this Hollywood Hills’ burglary crew. They were not only going behind Christian Louboutin shoes and Chanel purses, but looking for an escape to all their internal unhappiness. Some say that being rich does not bring happiness, but you might as well look your best in misery.

DSC_1854The planning began one night, when they realized Paris Hilton was hosting a party in Las Vegas. This meant that Hilton wouldn’t be at her house in Los Angeles. This was their chance at entering the world of a super celebrity, whose closet and fortune is acclaimed by millions worldwide. “Let’s go to Paris’s. I want to rob”, said Nicki, and what followed was the beginning to the end.

Zara vest and bra, Forever 21 denim cut-offs, necklace shoes, Marc Jacobs watch, Pandora bracelets.
