Continuing with the celebration of amazing people that age in August (one of them being me!), Coco Chanel turns 130 today! The iconic woman, who modernized fashion and style, was born in 1883 as Gabrielle Bohneur Chanel. Later, she would be known as Coco, a name that would stick until her death in 1973. During her lifetime, Coco not only became one of the most famous names in fashion, but she built an empire that still bears her name. The CC logo says it all. The Chanel name has become synonym with Chanel N5, the tweed jackets, pearl necklaces and parisian chicness.
But most importantly, Coco created the base for the modern woman, a working woman, who believes in bright ideas and puts them to work. That was the belief behind her fashion house: simple, classic elegance. It’s everyday glamour for the woman who isn’t afraid to be herself, go against the crowd and shock them in return. Coco was this woman, a woman ahead of her time. So, shall we celebrate properly? Wear your little black dress, put on that red lipstick and go out to make your dreams come true. “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous”
“In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different”
“A woman who doesn’t wear perfume has no future”
“Fashion fades, only style remains the same”
